Bill's Bodacious Birthday Book Blowout
I'm getting out of the book business ...
... at least, I don't plan to print any more books and filling orders is becoming a
distraction.
It's not that I don't want to see the information out there where it can do some good -- just the
opposite ... but I am shifting my focus in the direction of bringing A Place of Hospitality (APOH) into being and time's a'wasting.
A Place of Hospitality has much greater implications for the future health of our industry. Since
it is what I plan to do with the rest of my life, I want to give this project my full
attention.
But I still have an inventory to clear out, including more than a dozen different paperback titles,
my staff selection system, manuals and various audio and video products. Once these stocks are
gone, much of it will be incorporated into APOH and some will live on in electronic form but I will
not be reprinting any of it.
There's nothing like a birthday to make you stop and re-examine your priorities. Perhaps that is
what happened when it actually hit me that I will be 65 years old on the first of November!
This milestone reminded me that the clock is ticking and I had best get on with the work ahead. It
is also a passage that deserved some sort of special recognition.
After some reflection, I had an insight:
Independent operators need every advantage they can get right now and I have the perfect way (and
