ELECTRONIC HOUSE CALL - October 30, 1998
G'DAY FROM DOWN UNDER
Margene and I are a week into the Australia trip. After a week or so in Sydney, we arrived in Brisbane yesterday and this
morning I was the keynote speaker at the first annual Hospitality Industry Day sponsored by the Australian Society of CPA's.
This was my second program for an Aussie audience this week and while some of the terminology is different between our
two versions of the English language, I find that they are dealing with the same sort of problems I see all around the US. My
message seems to translate well down here and I suspect I will be doing more things in Australia.
THE DAILY DIARY
If you haven't checked out the daily diary on my website (www.restaurantdoctor.com), take a look. It is really about what I
learned from my life today along with a lot of photos of restaurants and various sights (and insights) along the way. At some
point I will probably summarize the main lessons . . . but I don't know what they are yet.
WELL, ONE INSIGHT AT LEAST . . .
It occurred to me that a true conversation is a meeting of the minds . . . and that it is not complete until you have learned
something new. Try approaching your next conversation, especially with your mate, holding that goal in mind.
Happy Halloween.
