ELECTRONIC HOUSE CALL - December 18, 1998
THE TIME HAS COME
I said I would send you the atomic clock utility in this issue but we had to dash to Florida on a family emergency Thursday
morning and I don't have the atomic clock utility on my laptop. Look for it when I get back to the office.
DECK THE HALLS
A reminder that this is the time of year to stock up on those little clear Christmas lights. They have a ton of uses anytime
of year and it seems you can only find them around the holidays. When I was at the Olympics, I used them for creative
lighting effects on my catering events but they are also a great way to liven up a dead corner of the bar, create a more
romantic ambience in the dining room or add some "oomph" to your street appeal. Just before and just after Christmas
they are on sale dirt cheap. They are already 50% off around here. (You know that you meant to pick some up last year
and forgot, so make a note!)
STILL MORE SCAMS
Tom Martin in Clovis, New Mexico sends this one along
Speaking of scams, we recently encountered one similar to the light bulb story. Ours was with an unrequested shipment of paper for our credit card machines. The company was "kind enough" to allow us to return the paper providing we would pay a 15% restocking fee (for something we did not order) and pay for return shipping. I politely told the gentleman that I would be happy to return the paper if they would pay for the shipping and waive the restocking fee, but that the paper would sit on our shelf, unused, until that time. They have not responded and the paper sits on our shelf.
JOB ONE
Remember that your family would like to see you sometime during the holidays!
