WHERE'S WALDO?
My colleague, Richard Schenkar, suggests that if you are looking for a business or personal phone number, e-mail address or fax number worldwide, your first stop should be Telephone Directories on the Web at <www.teldir.com>. There is even a backward phone-number lookup -- when you have just the number, you can find the name associated with that number. I have also used Switchboard <www.switchboard.com> and Big Yellow <www.bigyellow.com> to find addresses. There is a wealth of information out there.

Effective managers keep tabs on the progress of their people, resolve problems, and assure that operations run smoothly. Many CEO's are great at being managers; that's why they have been promoted to be CEO or why they have started their own company.

A leader is different than a manager. A leader has and articulates a vision. A leader creates. A leader can see what's possible for employees and for the company. A leader sets the direction and says "let's go this way". You may have both roles in your company. Just don't confuse them. When it's time to manage, manage. And when it's time to lead, lead.
