ELECTRONIC HOUSE CALL - November 17, 2000
NOW YOU SEE IT, NOW YOU DON'T
A topic that has been popping up on my scope recently has to do with guests stealing everything in sight, even in upscale restaurants. Certainly ashtrays,
glassware, flatware and other table appointments have long had a short shelf life, but stories abound of pictures, sculpture and even restroom fixtures "growing
legs." I would be interested in hearing what your experience has been with this issue and what you have done to get a handle on it.
MEETINGS OF THE MINDS
We are making plans for several regional management conferences in January, a blending of executive retreat and peer-to-peer sharing. If you would like to
receive more information on these conferences, drop a line and I will put you on the info list. I would also be interested to hear what topics you would like to see
addressed in such a forum. Marketing ideas? Staff recruiting and retention ideas?
CAN WE GET THIS DONE?
The national coffee survey now stands at just over 550 responses. If you have already entered the survey, thank you. If not, please take a minute now to share
your ideas. In addition to receiving helpful information on how to brew better coffee and develop a more profitable coffee program, you will also be in the
running for $2000 in cash prizes (once we get to 1000 responses.) You can find the survey at http://www.restaurantdoctor.com/survey/
CHECK IT OUT
This from the "True Lies" weekly e-letter: Formerly the Computer Virus Myths home page, Rob Rosenberger's vmyths.com remains THE best resource for
sorting truth from fiction regarding computer viruses and security issues. The A-Z List of virus hoaxes is definitive and Rob's archive of "rantings" about virus
hysteria in the media is a welcome antidote to prevailing misconceptions. Before you forward any garbage to everyone you know, check it out at
http://www.vmyths.com.
FINALLY
Next week is Thanksgiving (like I need to tell you that.) Whether you will be feeding the masses or home with your family, remember to take a few minutes to
be thankful. It is easy to find things to complain about but when you get quiet and think about it, this is really a great business!
