THE UNIVERSE REWARDS ACTION
I have already received incredibly positive feedback from folks who took the idea I mentioned in last week's EHC and did something similar with their staff. To those who have already applied the idea -- and those who will -- congratulations on taking action. Nothing will happen without it. As you engage in the exercise, however, take time to appreciate WHY it works (not just THAT it works). The key to improving the productivity and profitability of your operation lies in understanding the principles that are at play.

NOT A MOMENT TOO SOON
I am grateful that EHC has served as a vehicle for folks to pose operational questions to their peers, and I have been frustrated not to have a better way to share the incredible ideas that were generated. Well, I finally have the answer in place and my new message board/chat room/whatever is up and running! Go to my website (http://www.restaurantdoctor.com) and look for a link titled "The Doctor's Message Board." (It's in the first line of links.) This is a spot to post your questions and respond to those of others . . . and see what everyone has written! (What a concept!) In future EHC issues, I will let you know what questions have been posted so you can log on and offer advice, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to bookmark the site and just drop in from time to time.

By the way, the first question on the board relates to shoppers or spotters, a topic on which I am sure many of you have some experience.

COFFEE SURVEY
The National Coffee Survey will close on Tuesday when I get back in the office, at which point I will draw the prize winners and notify everyone who entered. If you have not yet entered and would like a shot at $2000 in cash prizes just for answering a couple of simple questions, you'd better get busy! ROUNDTABLES
The last of the Winter Roundtables will be held in Columbus, Ohio on March 12-13. (We lost our venue in Austin and there was not enough time to find another one, so the Austin roundtable has been canceled.) I am very impressed with the quality of interchange we had in Denver and Orlando (I recorded it all!) and encourage you to attend the session in Columbus. You can get more information on my website.
