ELECTRONIC HOUSE CALL - January 21, 2005

I am always amazed at how busy it can be around here even when I am not jumping on and off airplanes. The projects of the moment are the registrations for the Super Summit (more info on that below) and trying to get the books in order for my sales tax return. The first is fun, the second is on a par with root canals!

Burning Down the House
Last week I told you about an unnerving new book called "How to Burn Down the House" -- a manual for waiters and bartenders that details how to efficiently rip off their bosses.

As you might imagine, demand was immediate and my complete stock was gone the first day. I should have another case on hand by the time you read this ... but when that one is gone, I will have to consider whether this is really something I want to offer.

Some readers were outraged that the book was published in the first place. That is freedom of speech and while you may not like the topic, wouldn't you rather know what information is out there than to be clueless about it? Better that it be documented so you can evaluate your control systems.

I am offering these books only to my subscribers. It is not listed on my website. I should warn you that half of the second case is already claimed, so if you would like a copy of this dangerous book, ($12.95 plus postage), place your order while my supply holds out. Just click on the link below.

Dream Large
I got an interesting note from reader Naved Noorani. He was responding to my Monday statement that the real heroes of my lifetime have been Mother Theresa and Martin Luther King, Jr. He writes:

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have actually spent an hour with Mother Theresa, when on a trip to Calcutta. "Belief" is what lead to this meeting. Visiting Calcutta, I felt I should make an attempt to see her and mentioned that to my wife and mother in law - both declaring me insane. Who did I think I was? Lady Diana?

Later that morning we bumped into an acquaintance we had not seen for over five years. In passing she told us she had just met Mother Theresa! My wife was shocked and told her that I wanted to meet her too, upon which this person asked us to go and see her that very day as she was leaving for Bosnia the next morning. She had a vow of silence after 6pm so we had to be there much before that.

We rushed off that afternoon to the Ashram and we politely asked to wait. Silently and casually Mother Theresa walked up to us with an angelic smile, held my hand and asked us to sit with her.

The effect was ethereal and mesmerizing! I felt a power surge through her calloused hand that I just cannot describe. She fished out two cards and said, "Here is my business card" - It was her prayer for the family. After an hour we left her, feeling touched.

I think belief, dreams, unity, love, and family are the cornerstones of our existence. In an increasingly "intelligent" "learned" world when we live amidst the sludge of wars and other divisive measures, to the benefit of a select few, I can't help thinking that there are only a few such heroes in our midst. Their words are too often drowned by the cacophony of materially driven media, propelling us to stop dreaming.

A Note from the Doc:

Who is it that you have always wanted to meet, but never tried because you knew the idea was insane? What have you always wanted to do but never did because you knew it was impossible? When did you stop daring to dream?

If you have ever told your children that they could do anything they set their minds to, it is time to
take your own advice. There is no excuse for dreaming small ... or not dreaming at all. In fact, the bigger the dream, the more excitement it creates and the more forces will move to help you get it.

Belief is powerful and I will suggest that you have no idea what you are capable of being or doing. Don't be afraid to dream large and ask the Universe for what you want. You will be amazed at what will open up for you ... but you have to stay focused and recognize the opportunities when they appear. You may also have to work for it.

The January Survey
As I mentioned last week, I have instituted a short (2-question) monthly survey to stay in touch with life in the trenches ... and to give you a place to sound off.

Since we are starting a new year, the January survey asks about your biggest concern for the new year and what you plan to do about it. I would also like to know what questions you would like to see asked in future surveys.

The survey will run through the end of the month and I will report the results in early February. If you haven't already done so, please take a second right now to add your comments. I promise it won't take more than a minute ... maybe two if you get inspired!

Super Summit 2005
If you have read the information letter on the Super Summit, you noticed that I do not discuss the tuition for the program.

Our purpose here is not to be mysterious. Given the nature of the material we will cover, we do not feel that price should be the criteria for a decision to get more information or not. Your incentive to take the next step really has to be based on a desire for value rather than on a concern about cost. Suffice it to say that the tuition is significantly less than the value and generous scholarships are available.

I promise you that this program is very different from anything you have ever attended. We are not teaching content, but rather introducing some principles which will lead to individual insights -- those "Aha" moments that result in lasting personal change.

This "inside out" process results in a shift of understanding of how people and organizations function ... and that makes all the difference. Once you see it for yourself, it is yours forever (as opposed to intellectual concepts which you only have as long as you remember them.)

If what we propose strikes a chord, we ask you to complete a brief online questionnaire. After reviewing the questionnaire, Robert Kausen and I will schedule a 30-45 minute telephone conference with you.

The purpose of the discussion is to get a better sense of you as a person, understand your goals, get a picture of what your world looks like ... and to see if you are ready for the sort of material we will introduce at the Summit. (Not everybody is) It is also a chance for you to get your own questions answered and become comfortable (or not) with what we have in mind. All this is done with no obligation on either side.

If it looks like a good fit, we will extend an invitation for you to join us in New Orleans and send the registration material (which includes information on tuition and available scholarships.) It is totally up to you whether to register or not.

My own experience of operating from this perspective is outlined in the information letter at the link below. If you have been considering the Super Summit, I urge you to complete the questionnaire and at least start the process. The largest early registration scholarship expires at the end of the month.
