The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
April 25 - A Down Day in Beijing

There is more to a trip than cramming in as much as you can. After the workout we had yesterday, all I wanted to do today was relax and get caught up ... most notably on this daily diary.

The rest of the group went off to do some shopping and left me alone for several hours to get my work done. Turns out that most of that time they were in a taxi stuck in the horrendous Beijing traffic. I was so sorry to have missed it!

Around 2pm we realized that it was too late and far too windy to explore the back alleys of the old city as we had originally planned ... plus we hadn't had any lunch. So we moved the evening's dinner plans up and had our second round of Beijing Duck as a late lunch. The consensus was that Quanjude had a tastier product, but the place we went to had been in business longer ... a lot longer ... like 450 years longer! Incredible!

Tomorrow we head for Xi'an and the famous terracotta warriors. Stay tuned.
