The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
April 27 - X'ian

Miao did it again -- led us to another amazing restaurant. This one's menu reflected the Muslim roots of its owner ... whose smiling face and red fez was the common element in the photos that lined the lobby. I assume that the shots are of locally famous people. I didn''t recognize any of them ... but that's not the point. It is third party endorsement ("These people can eat anywhere. If they eat here, it must be terrific!") The chariot is modeled after one uncovered at the site of the terracotta warriors and give the place another talking point.

As I mentioned, the food itself was some of the tastiest we have had so far -- fork tender lamb to die for. We did decide to pass on the spicy cattle face ... and the braised camel palms didn't win many votes either. I didn't even know that camels HAD palms!
