The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
April 27 - X'ian

Probably because he would get a commission from the place, our driver insisted that we visit Banpo, the archeological site where they discovered the remains of a Neolithic settlement. Don't ask me how long ago that was but it definitely shows that there have been inhabitants of the area for a long time!

But the real reason people come to Xi'an these days is to see the terracotta warriors ... and an amazing site it is. As with other tourism sites in the country, there is an incredible gauntlet of vendors to fight your way through when you have finished touring the three pits that have been discovered to date ... but it's still worth the trip.

This is the doctor who took such good care of me this afternoon. And just to fill out the photos, I took a shot of one of the local markets with stalls stretching for a full city block!
