The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
December 13 - Christmas in Costa Rica

This is a Christian country and Christmas is only a few weeks away, so I should expect to see things like these. For some reason, it just seems strangely out of place in the tropics. I had the same experience when I was stationed in the Philippines with the Navy and when I lived in the Caribbean many years ago. That's what I get for being raised in New England, I suppose, where the possibilities of a white Christmas were always very real.

Just as in the US, some of the homes really get serious about their decorations. We aren't going to get our outside lights up this year. In fact, if Margene hadn't insisted that we do it before we leave, the odds were good that it wouldn't have happened either!
