The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
December 15 - Turistas in Moravia

If you ever come to San Jose, Federico is the man to know. I am amazed at how well this man knows his way around San Jose. I also feel a lot more comfortable in Tico traffic with a Tico driver -- he does things I would never dare to try (and I would probably be the one to cause an accident!) When in Rome ...

The Moravia area of San Jose is a good place to find Costa Rican handicrafts. Some shops are very tourist-y, some are a little more understated, but they all sell similar items at similar prices. After working our way through a couple of blocks of shops, we had pretty well scoped out what was available and who had the best deal. Then we did a fast round of "buy it and buzz off" and got out of Dodge. How many of these shops can you see before going brain dead?
