The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Morning and Marqueyssac

A foggy morning on the river redeemed itself beautifully!

The Chateau de Marquessac is more about the gardens than the building itself, although a couple of rooms have been renovated. The recentlly-replaced roof is made of overlapping flat stones. This is traditional Perigord style but requires some serious structural engineering. The roof of Chateau de Marquessac weighs 500 TONS!

The Gardens of Marqueyssac are the main reason to come here. They are extensive, wrapping all around the top of the hill for over half a mile! This was the ladies' trip so I don't have a lot of the details. Perhaps I will add them later.
