The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Beynac Photo Album

The throbbing commercial center of Beynac is about half a dozen stores. Fortunately one of them is a decent boulangerie (bakery) and it is within easy walking distance of the house. (Well, easy going downhill at least). The rest of the shots will give you a feel for this wonderful town on a cliff by the river.

These photos were taken at about the halfway point of the path from the house into the downtown area, one looking uphill and one looking down. Try climbing that at 8am!

The road up to the house looks more like a footpath than a street. It ends just past our garage. Fortunately, the opening is wide enough that you can turn in from the street (although getting out is a little trickier), but as you can see, the street is barely wider than the car (and that's with the side mirrors folded in!) We did get both cars in here the first night, but once was enough for Steve -- he parked in the lot on the river after that!
