The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur Down Under
October 31 - Shorncliffe, Queensland

What could be better than breakfast on the deck in the sunshine? In addition to the eggs, toast, tea and other expected items, we also enjoyed fresh paw paw, a cousin to papaya. Very interesting. The other photo in the Bob & Pam Marsh gallery was taken at the top of Mt. Tambourine. For the uninitiated, the Tides Tavern referred to on Bob's t-shirt is in Gig Harbor! He bought the shirt when then visited us briefly after we returned from the Alaska cruise.

Breakfast on the deck Bob Pam on Mt. Tambourine

Today was a driving tour around the Gold Coast area. We started high, driving up Mt. Tambourine for a view of the countryside. The photo on the left is looking west into Queensland. Looking east you see the Gold Coast beaches (Surfer's Paradise, Southport and many more.) As we were heading down the mountain to the beach, we passed the knoll in the right hand photo. I don't know what it was about this spot that struck me, but it seemed to have a ritualistic quality, almost Stonehenge-like. The dead eucalyptus trees in a circle seemed somehow intentional. Must be a memory from some other lifetime!

Looking west from Mt. Tambourine Why is this spot compelling?
