The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur Down Under
November 10 - Auckland

Today was a travel day. No significant restaurant activity.

We had a pleasant breakfast with Norm & Shirley, then drove to Auckland (about 3 hours) to Jim & Adrienne McPhee's. Jim and I spent the afternoon doing research at a local pub. Jim has just retired from ANZ Bank and is ready for the next phase of his life so we discussed possibilities over a few pints of kiwi ale.

That evening was a barbecue at home to celebrate son Scott's 23rd birthday. He is involved in gene therapy research on Parkinson's disease and apparently is involved with a group at the cutting edge of that technology. All in all, a pleasant family-type day. I go to work tomorrow, so the break was a nice change. No photos of significance today.
