The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
North Wales and Louisville, Kentucky

The Route I am singing for my supper at the Sysco food show in Louisville today -- two 90-minute programs, one on hospitality and one on how to develop more profitable menus that also serve the needs of the guests better. The audiences were attentive and, for the most part, engaged. (I'm sure there were a few who just wanted to get off their feet for awhile!) The group was relatively small which made it more of a conversation and less of a presentation. Much more productive that way, I think.

I wasn't worried about the programs -- they always get the best effort I can muster in the moment. My concerns today were more logistic. I could easily get the rental car turned in and make my flight from Louisville to Atlanta, but if everything was on time, I'd only have abour 45 minutes to connect in Atlanta with my flight back to Manchester ... and the Louisville-Atlanta flight had a horrible on-time record!

Fortunately, the travel gods were with me today and while the flight left Louisville late and had the poor taste to arrive at the far end of Terminal C, I made it to Terminal F with time to spare ... and was greeted by the same flight crew I'd had on the flight over! It was a mini-reunion of sorts and put a nice cap on a day of scrambling. We'll arrive back in the UK tomorrow morning.

Margene apparently had better weather today. I left the car at the house but she doesn't drive manual transmission, so her big adventure was walking about half a mile to the local pub for a long lunch, then back to her books! We should have pictures (of something!) for you tomorrow!
