The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur In Italy
May 21 - Assisi, Todi

Assisi is an ancient city. While the town is definitely dominated by St. Francis (perhaps St. Francis, Inc.!) there is a serious history here. In the central square is an old Roman temple which was "Christianized" to keep it from being torn down. The contrast between the interior and the exterior is startling.

Piazza de Populo

The Piazza de Populo, Todi's central square with the Duomo in the background. It's a great place for people-watching . . . and killing a half hour before dinner!
