Le Vieux Moulin from the roadLe Vieux Moulin showing the waterfall The old mill machinery

From the street, Le Vieux Moulin doesn't look like much, but when you get a clearer perspective on it, you can see that it is really quite a building. It was originally the mill for the chateau immediately across the street (we'll get into that another day) and was completely restored by Patrick Berger several years ago. Some of the original machinery is still visible in the main living area.

View from our room The river with the B&B to the right The back yard

Talk about a room with a view! This is the view from the window of our room at Le Vieux Moulin. The waterfall is to the left behind the building and that is the river directly ahead with the little town behind it. The back yard (with a pool, yet!) is a perfect place to relax in the sunshine . . . or join the guests for the pre-dinner ham and kir social. The scene we wandered into yesterday is a nightly happening. Patrick makes his own fruit infusions of raspberry, cassis and blackberry. A shot of those in a glass of white wine and you have a very lovely . . . and potentially lethal . . . way to get the evening started. My, but they go down easily!

Chateau

Another roadside chateau in the Cote d'Or wine country, this one outside Geverny-Chambertin. It appears to have been converted into a school. The building is fascinating -- I wish we could have seen the inside.
