The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur In France
June 2 - Memories of Le Vieux Moulin

Le Lapin Sally Christelle, Patrick and Laurence

There is a lot we will miss about this place. We will miss the rabbit, usually known as just "Le Lapin" who almost made it into our room and who, we think, had a "thing" going with one of the cats. We will miss Sally, the dog, who always sat under the table and ate the fat from the ham at aperitif hour. We will certainly miss Christelle, Patrick and Laurence who maintain the spirit behind this wonderful place. Next time, we will learn more French so that we can communicate with them better.

What we will also miss, however, are the evening gatherings with a changing cast of international characters. We met people who lived from Uruguay to Thailand, had hours of conversation in many different languages about topics that ranged from the US elections (everybody thinks it was a robbery!) to whether Britain will join the European Union (the odds are that they won't, at least for now) to where to stay in South America to car washes in Belgium. Here, in no particular order, are the people that made our week here so special.
