The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
April 26 - Ristorante al Coccio

Dinner at Ristorante al Coccio in Magione.

From the left, Dieter and Hildegarde Rinderer from Austria, Margene and me, and Suzanne and John Miller, our good friends from Gig Harbor and founders of the Affordable Travel Club.

The restaurant is a store front in a small neighborhood commercial development. Nothing special to look at from the outside and really not that remarkable on the inside. But the food was excellent ... and the key to the whole experience was Marco.

Ristorante al Coccio and the celebration of Umbrian cuisine is the obvious passion of Marco Pignattini. His wide smile and spirit of service turned a good evening into a memorable one. If I understood correctly, he has just finished an Umbrian cookbook that I suspect will be excellent. To make it easier on diners, he has translated his menus into several languages ... and even devised a display menu board that he brings to the table for larger groups. It has cards listing all his menu offerings in English and Italian.
