The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
April 28 - Around the Neighborhood

Gudiolo is really coming into bloom. The wysteria on the tower is looking great. (Suzanne looks OK herself!) The ivy has made it to the roof. It looks great but I can't help thinking that it will eventually raise hell with the grout between the stones ... but I could be wrong. At least they don't have to worry about painting the place!

The workhorse for this trip is a Renault Megane that we rented in Nice. By renting in France instead of Italy, we save $500 on the cost of the rental. On the right is a view of Lake Trasimeno from the town of Castel Rigone.

We passed part of the afternoon reading passages from the house book -- comments from previous guests over the past ten years or so. Some of the entries are absolutely hilarious, whether they meant to be or not. Others say a lot about the groups who were here before us. For example, it was noted that a champagne cork, fired from an angle of exactly 78 degrees, will always land in the pool. Good to know.
