The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
May 1 - Vence and Fayence

We had lunch in an outdoor cafe under the trees in the town of Vence. It only seemed appropriate to have my first Salade Nicoise in the area around Nice.

The old town in Vence is another one of those medieval labyrinths where all the photos are vertical. It had a wonderful texture to it and while quite small, still was a charming place to visit.

Dinner at the Flying Club in Fayence was as "cheap and cheerful" as promised. We arrived ahead of the rush and enjoyed the casualness of the place. I did like the effect of using square plates and serving them on the angle. It made for a nice presentation. Margene's omelette was superb. My pork chop was not ... but we still had a good time.
