The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
May 9 - Hanging Out By the River

The day broke bright and sunny ... but cool and very windy. This area is subject to the legendary Mistral winds, mainly in the winter, that sweep down the Rhone valley from the north ... and knock people over! We didn't have bodies flying through the air today, but it was blowing with some authority.

So we opted for more a more domestic schedule. First project: a couple of loads of laundry. You really need to be on an extended trip to appreciate the luxury of being able to travel light and still have clean clothes every day! The first time we did laundry here, the sun dried everything in an hour. We didn't have the heat today ... but the blow dryer was definitely working! Electric clothes dryers are rare so it back to hanging the clothes out on the line, just like we did when I was a kid.

Not to be total couch potatoes, we did make a foray into town for lunch in the sun at a cafe by the river. Then we took a few photos, explored a bit more and hit the local supermarket for a quick re-supply. Then we headed for home and just enjoyed the sunlight on the river.

There is a wonderfully relaxed air about life in L'Isle sur La Sorgue ... which is most likely why real estate prices have escalated so. I could certainly envision living here.
