The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
December 2 - The Day, Such As It Was

We drove around the back of the Chateau de Tanlay and managed a couple of shots over the top of the wall. We found it interesting that a good portion of the grounds are now a public golf course!

This is a 16th Century lavoir in the town of Cruzy-le-Chatel. We know that it was used for washing, but we still don't know if it was for washing clothes or washing people.

On a table in the living room, there is a great old print of the canal showing our house on the left. We have not been able to find a place to buy a copy ... so we made one. We did manage to find one copy of an English language newspaper in town, so we got caught up on all the major events ... in Britain! I figure if the world ends, someone will tell us. Otherwise, we are not missing much by being news-free for a couple of weeks.
