The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
December 8 - The Road to Il Gelsomini

The day was mostly sunny but as we lost altitude, we ran into fog. The winter colors were quite different from what we normally see in the spring, but they had a wonderful texture to them. The fog also created some interesting effects. In the second photo the town of Todi pokes its head above the valley fog.

For the next three days we will be just outside the little village of Fiore which is just outside the larger town of Todi. The house is called Il Gelsomini (it seems that all houses in Italy have names). The owner, Francesca, is a charming hostess and a wonderful cook. She gives cooking classes and makes homemade chocolates for the better restaurants in Todi.
