The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
April 28 - The Road to Burgundy

Michele's shop has local cheeses, meats, a deli, regional wines, coffees and assorted gourmet treats. Margene and Janet diligently made a serious reduction in Michele's inventory. A couple of bottles of wine worked for me!

The chateau on the left was just behind our room, but we did not discover it until we stuck our heads out the window this morning. What a surprise! As we came into Burgundy, we went past La Rochepot, a wonderfully-preserved 12th century castle that we toured on our first trip here in 1998.

For dinner we headed to the nearby village of Chateauneuf en Auxois. Many of the more picturesque villages are dramatically lit at night and this one is a beacon for miles around (probably for more miles when the weather is better!) Both these shots were taken with only available light.

Our new B&B buddies, Paul and Sandra Chavez from Las Vegas.
