The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 3 - Eatin' Good in the Neighborhood

My friend Pat Evans in Louisville will be pleased to know that Pizza Hut is still delivering the goods, even in Paris!

Back in the neighborhood for dinner ... but where to go? There are a lot of restaurants and all are offering about the same menus at about the same prices. So how do you make a choice? La Jardin d"Ivy did two things that caught our attention: they had photos of their back garden on the menu board and offered a menu in English ... and not just a boring English translation. The menu is headed, "And because the owner is French but he married a French/Australian ..." The place just sounded like fun. The owners were very personable and the food was excellent. My only disappointment came at the end of the meal when their credit card machine was malfunctioning. I was told that because the machine was down, I would have to pay cash. Not the end of the world, but I was irritated that they would make their problem into my problem without finding a way to accommodate my preference for using the card. It could have been done. How would you have handled it?
