The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 3 - Around Paris

We started the day with a quick look at St. Chapelle. Three of the walls are stained glass and when the sun shines, the place absolutely glows. The first photo is of the end of the church which will show you how the three walls of glass are built, but the one on the right gives you a sense of the color that floods the room.

The boat tour on the Seine is another item on my must-do list. It starts at Pont Neuf, turns around at the Eiffel Tower and makes a circuit of Ile de Cite and Ile de St. Louis before returning to the dock an hour later.

At the top of the Samaritaine department store is a wonderful outdoor cafe (actually more of a cafeteria) with an exceptional view of the city. Too many other people were in on the secret today, so we only stayed long enough to check out the view. In order, the views are toward the Ile de Cite and Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and Sacre Coeur.

We finished the day with a walk from the Louvre to the Arch de Triomphe. We stopped for a cool one in the park along the Champs Elysees. The colors were intense!
