The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 3 - In and around the Louvre

When in Paris you have to go to the Louvre ... and when there, the Mona Lisa is the number one attraction.

When we were in Italy, we saw several paintings by Botticelli, but this fresco was a new medium for us. Among the other pieces that you might recognize are the Venus de Milo and Winged Victory.

Not content with mere painting, sculpture and the like, they also had the coronation crown of Louis XIV along with other diamond-encrusted trinkets from his court. It is not every day that you see a king's crown jewels!
