The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 10 - The Road to Dordogne

On the way to Dordogne, we stopped to visit a troglodyte village. These dwellings were occupied until around 1900. The caves are all man-made and the residents were farmers, no different than their contemporaries who lived above ground. While many of the rooms -- buildings, effectively -- are cave-like, several others have been "modernized" and are quite contemporary.

Here is our home for the rest of the week, a cottage on a narrow street in the village of Mauzac, a block away from the Dordogne river.

A few scenes around Tremolat, about 8km away, where we went for dinner.
