The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 12 - Around the Dorgogne

Along the Dordogne river perch the towns of LaRoque-Gageac and Beynac. During the Hundred Years' War, the brooding Chateau de Beynac that dominates the skyline was the headquarters of the French while the British set up in a castle on the opposite side of the river.

There is not much of a story on this little town just down the road from us, but we were taken with some of the houses. This trip has us talking about building a French stone farmhouse when we get back to Washington!
