The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 14 - Dordogne

Our last full day in the Dordogne didn't get rolling until nearly 3pm ... but hey, we are taking a break here! The sun was in and out of the clouds as we took a drive around the area looking for last-minute gifts and generally seeing a few local sites we had missed.

For as many times as we had driven through it, bought gas and groceries and so forth, I had never really walked around Lalinde, the closest town of any size to Mauzac. It is only about 6km away and at one point we had planned to walk there and back, but the late start saved us! It is a fairly typical town for this region of the country ... but no restaurants that caught our fancy, so it was back to Tremolat for our last dinner before heading south in the morning. After that, we found a fun way to get rid of the stale bread in our kitchen.
