The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 14 - Around Lalinde

This house is just down the road from us, hidden in the trees. There are homes like this throughout the area, seemingly just waiting for us to discover them.

Our closest town of any size is Lalinde, critical because it has one of the few bridges across the Dordogne. It, too, was originally a bastide (no slur on its ancestery) but the fortifications are long gone. It has a nice little market square and a canal that runs north of the river to allow boats to bypass a dam and a few areas of rough water.
