The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 15 - The Road to Languedoc

We have been thoroughly enjoying our Renault Laguna. It is roomy, very smooth and the diesel gets around 50mpg, a nice touch when fuel costs $4.00 a gallon. There is no key as such, only a credit card-sized card with the electronic circuitry that matches the car. You just slide the card into a slot in the dash and push a button to start or stop the engine. Pretty slick ... except that the hole is at the wrong end to be able to put it on a key ring!

We are staying with Joyce Emerson, an artist and retired college professor from England.
