The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 16 - Around the Languedoc

Joyce's new house is about 4km away in the next village and should be ready in mid-June. In addition to being a marvelous hostess and tour guide, she is a well-known local artist.

The garage has been converted into a studio. The studio in the new house will be even larger.

Sunday is a market day in the neighboring town of St. Chinian. After our drive around the area we returned to the house for a picnic lunch on the terrace.

For dinner, Joyce took us to a wonderful little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint down by the river. It felt like a fishing camp -- definitely a step or two down the food chain -- but the prices were dirt cheap and the pizza was terrific. This is the kind of dive that I love!
