The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 10 - A Down Day in Umbria

I just love the feel of the Ristorante Il Convento in Corciano. (It also helps that the food and service are excellent as well!)

It is fairly common in Italy for restrooms to be communal, at least to the extent that both men and women share a common sink area. There are separate rooms for men and women off this area. Perhaps Italian women use the toilet facilities for reasons that are more biological than social! The stone steps are worn down from centuries of foot traffic. These go up to the old convent dining rooms that are in the midst of renovation.

The Trattoria of the Three Brothers was hidden away in the lower level of the building and seemed to be the refuge of lonely local men looking for good home cooking. I didn't dare take a picture when the place was full but this will at least give you an idea of the joint. Nothing fancy, just good food and good prices. I could easily be back here again.
