The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 11 - Umbertide and Gubbio

The weekly market in Umbertide is one of the biggest in the area. Part of it deals with clothing and part focuses on food and flowers.

Some of the market set-ups are so professional that we wondered how they could possibly do it. This sequence shows how the stand selling meats and cheeses packed itself up. Fascinating to watch.

We rather got into the "cheap and good" routine and returned to the Trattoria of the Three Brothers for dinner. It was, in fact, cheap and good! Tonight was warm enough that we opted for outside dining rather than sitting inside and listening to "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" blasting from the TV in Italian!
