The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 12 - A Really Down Day in Umbria

The other thing to do, of course, is eat and drink. We did some serious damage to the wine stock during our al fresco picnic on the patio, then continued the process as the sun went down.

Our housekeeper, Sandra, came in to cook dinner for us -- crostini on the patio followed by a delicate ravioli with a butter and lemon sauce, then a superb roast pork with roasted potatoes and tiramisu for dessert ... all lubricated with several bottles of Vino Nobile de Montepulciano ... and one lovely bottle of Brunello di Montalcino. It was such a delightful time that we have asked her to come back and do it again tomorrow night!
