The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
May 24 - Around Piemonte

The Canale market just went on and on, up and down the piazzas and side streets. There were fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, flowers, clothing, kitchen items and just about anything else you might want. We got some of the best french fries from one of the local trailers. It also seemed that where roast pork was the cooked meat of choice in Umbria, here it was rotisserie chicken.

Canale is a nice little town with some older areas. You may notice that the sidewalk runs in the portico under the building -- a great way to keep things cooler in the summer.

A few shots around the countryside. You may be able to pick up the snow-capped peaks of the alps in one of the shots. We are only a short drive from Torino where the winter Olympics will be held next year. The final shot is what we see from the window of our room at Villa Tiboldi. I am really impressed with this place and suspect that we will be back for a longer stay.
