The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
September 27 - La Selva

Our house is over 400 years old -- build by the Medici family we are told -- and has been nicely divided into four apartments. It sits in the midst of the vineyards that produce some excellent Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

Our apartment, Il Guardia, is build on the ancient foundations of fortified guard tower dating back over a thousand years - hence the name. On our first night here, Pat Gray did her Girl Scout thing and got a fire going to take away some of the unseasonal chill in the air.
