The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
October 2 - Volterra

Volterra speaks for itself.

The district is rich in alabaster, the working of which was an important industry of the city. The art continues today in forms from traditional to modern to some very unexpected constructions like the drum set. (Yes, that's all made of alabaster.)

From classical flutists in the main piazza to homey-feeling houses in the side streets, Volterra feels like a town you want to move right into. Aren't Hap and Pat already looking like locals?
