The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
October 31 - Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes

This was not really much of a restaurant day, but I did see a few things in Ollantaytambo that had a culinary overtone. On the left, a local butcher does his work under what must pass for strict sanitary conditions. I think this pig was slaughtered as part of the All Saints Day holiday celebration tomorrow. Even in a little town like Ollantaytambo, pizza seems to be the menu item of choice. Margene's stomach still being a bit tempermental, we did not eat at this place, but it certainly had a good look.

Dinner tonight was at the Inka Wasi Restaurant, one of dozens of local pizzerias. The interior was exceptionally well-done with several fireplaces blazing, including a wood-fired pizza oven. At one end of one of the dining rooms, was a full-relief of the last supper ... except that it was Jesus with the 14 Inca kings.
