The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
November 1 - Machu Picchu

What can you say about Machu Picchu? It is all we expected it to be ... and all the more impressive for seeing it in person. Truly a spiritual place to spend my 60th birthday.

The stonework here is amazing. It is all done without mortar and with no iron tools. The first shot is the base of the Temple of the Sun where the foundation rock has been incorporated into the structure. The next doorway shows the quality of the stonework. Finally, the real reason the whole day worked so well -- our guide, Yenny.
