The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Re-Acclimating in Paris

It's about a 20-hour process to get to Paris from Seattle. Up early in the morning, shuttle to the airport, most always a connecting flight to a major gateway city, then the long slog across the pond. Admittedly it's a bit less stressful when we have the points to fly business class rather than being crammed into coach, but it takes the same amount of time either way.

In the past we've simply pressed on to our final destination, arriving, of course, totally jet-lagged and unable to complete simple sentences. This time we thought we'd be a bit more sane and take an overnight break at the Paris airport to shower and catch up on missed sleep before moving on to Lisbon. In retrospect, not our smartest choice.

Because we were breaking the trip for a night, we only checked the bags as far as Paris with the idea that we would just re-check them to Lisbon the next morning. When one of our three checked bags didn't show up in Paris, the Air France baggage office found the bag in their computer system and said it looked like somehow it had been checked all the way through to Lisbon. "It should be on your flight in the morning and you'll have it when you get to Lisbon," they said.

Tune in tomorrow to see how that turned out!
