The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Jammin' In Our Jammies

Our daily schedule is increasingly determined by how energetic Margene feels. Today her get-up-and-go simply got up and went ... and so we took a vacation from our vacation. Margene never got out of her PJs al day! That's another advantage of renting an apartment and moving around less often. How much fun would it be to spend the day sitting in a hotel room?

I did manage to get out for a bit to find a larger supermarket. Big on the shopping list was coffee filters. There's a coffee maker in the apartment but filters are not available in any of the local shops. Why would someone do that? Perhaps I'm just getting on my hospitality high horse, but while the apartment is nicely set up, it is not particularly user-friendly.

We're used to finding a house book that describes how various items work (dishwasher, washing machine, etc.), where and when to drop trash (no spare trash bags), where to find essential services and supplies, restaurant recommendations, where to park, quirks and norms of the building and the apartment, contact numbers/email addresses to report problems ... things like that. Here there's nothing.

Breakthrough! Air France finally found our wandering third bag! It arrived in Lisbon this afternoon. They will fly it up to Porto tomorrow and, with luck, we should have it sometime tomorrow afternoon. A small victory, I suppose, but one less ball in the juggle.
