The daily diary of a wandering restaurateur
June 1 - Around Lake Bohinj

Hotel Bellevue

The Hotel Bellevue is a wonderful stone ediface high on a hill overlooking the lake. It felt very 30's -- probably was -- and it is alleged that Agatha Christie stayed here while working on one of her famous murder mysteries.

Lake Bohinj Lake Bohinj

Here are a few shots of Lake Bohinj (pronounced Bo-HEEN) itself. The one on the left was taken from a little lake cruise boat. On the right is a corner of the lake where we had a picnic today.

Map of the Lake

Lost? Just take a look at the friendly map on the wall. We were more confused after looking at this. (This, by the way, was the last shot in my camera before it made a side-trip to Israel. Oh, I suppose I haven't mentioned that anywhere. I am posting this page in early July after receiving my camera back from a man in Israel who found it while hiking to Savica Falls in Slovenia a month ago! Fortunately, I had a business card in the camera case and he tracked me down. It really restored my faith in human nature!)
