The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Plan B

"The best laid plans of mice and men ofttimes go astray." These may just be some of the most accurate things Shakespeare ever said.

Normally I post a daily report on my trips as they happen. I have a ton of photos -- mostly from others since my camera took a dip in the river last week -- but it is another career to get them organized enough to put online. I get a little more goes up there every day, but I am still way behind. So Plan B is not to lose my peace of mind over it and fill in the blanks as I can, even if some of that happens after I get back.

Normally I put out both a full-length Special Edition of my weekly e-letter and a shorter, free version. But it is after 1:00am here right now and I just can't bring myself to do both. So this week everybody will get the same thing. Business as usual for some, a "free taste" for others, but Plan B once again.

I am noticing that more often than not, Plan B is the one that gets used. Just like making a U-turn, switching to Plan B is just the right thing to do when your Plan A isn't working out. It's not the end of the world, just another right answer ... and in life there are a lot of right answers. You just always want to have a Plan B in mind.

Were she awake at this hour, my bride would tell me that the right answer is for me to call it quits and go to bed. I think she's right!
