The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Off to Inverness

Before we totally say goodbye to our Edinburgh accommodations, I wanted to show you something I had never seen before. It is essentially a small inline water heater just for the shower. It turns on and off with a switch outside the bathroom and heats the water as it passes through. Hit the button in the shower and the water turns on. Very cool but something we had never encountered on any of our previous European trips.

So it was off to the highlands and the Crown Guest House in the town of Inverness. This seems to be B&B row, with most of the neighboring houses also offering rooms to visitors. It is quite comfortable and the spirit of hospitality is definitely alive and well here.

Inverness is the third largest city in Scotland but with only 42,000 people, that doesn't make it all that big. It is nestled along the banks of the Ness River which, not surprisingly, feeds into Loch Ness. The water flow is quite strong and we were blessed with a lovely sunny spring day. We are told that this will all change again tomorrow so we thought we would get out and see a bit of it before the rains started again.
