The Daily Diary of a Wandering Restaurateur
Other Starts and Stops
Culloden House was the estate where Bonnie Prince Charlie and his inner circle rested up before the battle of Culloden. Pity they didn't pay more attention to strategy while they were there! The building is now a hotel.
We went for a light dinner at the River Cafe, a pleasant bistro-like place along the river in Inverness. Margene was craving a burger and they were supposed to make a good one. They didn't! Am I the only one who found their choice of words on the special board a bit peculiar? Does the phrase "poured over" really sound appetizing or convey a feeling that the kitchen handles you meal with care and pride?
